Q: What are the types of braces?
A: There are two types of braces which are commonly used now a day's depending on the requirement of the patient. There are metallic braces in which metal brackets are used; these are not esthetically pleasing because of the metallic visibility. The others are ceramic braces in which white brackets are used that are esthetically good and do not show much. The duration of treatment does not depend on either of the above mentioned brackets.
Q: How do I take care of my oral hygiene during the braces treatment?
A: It is very important to maintain proper oral hygiene during the braces treatment, as it is difficult cleaning the teeth and the food tends to get accumulated in the braces very often. Special ortho brushes are used to keep the teeth clean and maintain a good oral hygiene. The dentist teaches the correct technique to brush on the braces. Rinse the mouth thoroughly with water or mouthwash properly whenever possible.
