A bridge is a dental prosthesis which is used as a replacement for the missing or damaged tooth. Metal free bridges are the alternative to porcelain fused to metal (PFM) bridges.
Q: What are metal free bridges?
A: Metal free bridges are similar to the conventional bridges consisting of crowns which take support from the natural tooth abutments and few false teeth (pontics) which are a replacement for missing teeth. These bridges are made of full ceramic and do not contain any metal base like PFM bridges.
Q: What are the advantages of metal free bridges?
A: These are esthetically of the most superior variety almost indistinguishable from the natural teeth. The strength of the bridge is an added advantage.
Q: How do I take care of my bridge?
A: It is very important to maintain a proper oral hygiene which includes brushing twice daily and flossing. Avoid having sticky food and it is advised not to bite hard substances directly with the bridge, the food can be first cut into pieces and then used for chewing. Regular follow up with the dentist every year.
